Babies grow and change so rapidly in their first year, don’t they?! It really is incredible to watch them develop from a tiny, curled-up sleeping newborn to an increasingly independent baby, and all within just 6 months or so!
My baby portrait photography services are designed to help you capture all the wonderful stages that your little one will go through in their first year. ‘Sitter sessions’ are ideal for when your child is around 6-8 months old.
By this stage, they are getting comfortable with sitting up independently and are spending more and more time upright (although they may well still have the odd wobble or two)!
Take a moment to think about how significant this time is!
Just six months ago they were just a helpless newborn. Suddenly, they have a whole new perspective on the world and are no longer spending most of their time laying on their back.
It’s very exciting for you as the parent, but it must feel incredible to them!
My ‘Sitter Sessions’ are very popular with parents in Leeds and surrounding areas because they are an opportunity to capture this thrilling transition from baby to bum-shuffler!
Under an hour-long, they are short enough to not tire your baby out but long enough for me to be able to create a lovely variety of baby portraits, so you have them in the years ahead to look back on and enjoy.
They’re also, of course, lovely to display on your walls in your child’s nursery at home, in photo albums and to share with family and friends who are keen to keep tabs on your baby’s development.

With a child now sitting, there is scope to try out lots of baby photo ideas.
I’ll photograph your child smiling and playing, and perhaps crawling around the studio. I’ll encourage them to interact with me so that I achieve some lovely portraits of them looking directly at the camera as well.
To keep it fun, I may bring out the bubble mix, or some carefully selected wooden toys to try and engage your children. We can even sing songs (sorry parents, you have been warned!) and do anything else silly that will raise a giggle.
The key thing is that we capture their very best smiles and show off their playful personality in the portraits.
Outfit-wise, I suggest that you bring along a couple of changes of clothes for your little one.
When choosing your child's clothes, think classic and timeless. You can’t go wrong with fairly plain clothes in neutral colours and beautiful textured fabrics. I always recommend avoiding all things neon, or bringing anything covered with busy patterns, slogans or logos as these tend to date the photographs.
At my studio, I have a few options of clothing that would fit most sitting-up-age babies and that you’re welcome to borrow for the duration of the shoot. Because I know they work so well on camera, most of these are neutral-coloured and include gorgeous knitted items.
I will also plan to take some skin shots as those adorable baby creases and super-soft skin is lovely to capture in the photographs as well.
If you like the idea of booking a 6 month baby photoshoot, then I would also urge you to consider my ‘First Year Collection’.
This package includes three baby photoshoots which take place at the key milestones in a child’s first twelve months of life. One of those milestones is the sitting up stage.
When you book the collection, you save on session fees, and you also get a free mounted print from each of the three portrait sessions.

A fun 6-month baby photoshoot will capture an important milestone in your little one’s life. Once they're sitting up, they have an incredible new talent! This stage is really adorable!
A sitter session is a lovely complement to a newborn photoshoot that you may have already had, or is an ideal first-time photo session if you didn’t have professional newborn photos when they were born.
I have so many baby portrait ideas that I would love to use when photographing your baby!
Contact me when you’re ready to make a no-obligation enquiry and to ask any questions that you may have about my sitter sessions.
I hope to meet you and your baby very soon!
